Spanish Residency

& Visas

Residency and Visas

Legalizing your right to stay, live, work, or frequently visit Spain can be achieved through two main avenues: obtaining a full residency document, known as a TIE (Tarjeta de Identidad de Extranjero) or European residency certificate, or acquiring a visa.

TIE Resident Identity Card

The TIE Resident Identity Card is available to non-EU residents and can be issued for periods of 2, 5, or 10 years. Various criteria exist for obtaining a TIE, with the most relevant options for our clients including:
  • Brexit TIE: Available to UK nationals who can prove residence in Spain prior to December 31, 2020.
  • Student TIE: Granted upon completion of a 2-year physical course with economic means of sustainability.
  • Student Visa: Applied for outside of Spain or within 90 days of arrival for physical courses lasting less than one year, renewable or convertible into a student TIE.
  • ‘Arraigo’: Established through proof of living permanently in Spain for 3 years, despite lacking proper documentation, and demonstrating integration into Spanish culture.
  • Spouse or Long-Term Partner (Pareja de Hecho) of an EU resident in Spain.
  • Non-Lucrative Visa: Applied for outside of Spain with evidence of sufficient funds or wealth (approximately 27,000 euros) per applicant. It is a one-year multi-entrance visa, renewable or convertible into a non-lucrative TIE.
  • Economic Visa: Eligibility depends on the region of application and the qualifications of the applicant, with all applications assessed for the potential fulfillment of a vacancy by a local individual.
Our consultants provide guidance tailored to your specific situation, facilitating the process of obtaining residency or a visa in Spain.
